DRIFTA USA 2011

Since our last trip, we sent over a pallet of 10 kitchens. These have all sold now, so we have sent over another load. We filled up a whole 20’ container , with about 85 kitchens/ drawers. Bit of a gamble, especially with a few uncertain world affairs going on… it’s cost me over 60 grand to build the stock and get it over there, but Americans and Canadians have been wanting to buy our kitchens for years, so have now made a big effort to have plenty of stock to really get started.

So, have a look at the PRODUCTS page, to see which kitchens we have sent over. I have also listed next to the price of each, how many we have left in stock. These kitchens are all sitting in a container in Chris’s yard, in Twisp, WA. They are all wrapped up ready to send. So if you wanted one, and ordered say Monday, then you could have it delivered 3-4 days later. We are sending with UPS. Money can be paid into our Wells Fargo account, or by paypal.

The freight from Aust to USA works out to about $100 on each kitchen, depending on size. Say a DCB – Drifta Car Back, one of our most popular kitchens, would be $75 freight to USA, then about $50 freight to your place.. the price I have discounted from $680 to $590, so that would cost you about $715 delivered to your door. Some of the other kitchens I can discount also, to help make it more affordable.

Drifta has made over 11000 camping kitchens here is Aust. I think you fella’s call them “chuck boxes, grub box, or patrol box” . So now they are available to you if you want them. just send me an e-mail if you’d like to order one. Thanks , rgds Luke ps, I’ll be coming over in July August this year, and be doing a road trip from WA, to san fran, then out to Colorado, back up thru Wyoming. So if you wanted me to drop one off, or have a look at one, then just let me know...
Chris, Kristy, Emmy and Bodie with our first pallet we sent over 18 months ago. Chris picked it up from Seattle in the back of his pickup… Our container nearly fully packed. Left here end of march 2011.
Kristy, (above left)is Claude Miller’s daughter, who I worked for 15 years ago as a mule packer, where Drifta all started. We’ve kept in touch all these years, and now Chris, is helping me get Drifta going in the USA. Without them we wouldn’t be able to send anything over, Chris has been great, and has done loads of work for us. He’s organised to receive our freight, then handles sending out the kitchens.. particularly getting started, with freight accounts, US bank accounts, there is a lot of running around to be done, and again, without Chris, we couldn’t have done it…
A very wet day when the crane came and took our container away...

DRIFTA USA TRIP 2009.

G’day, well, we’ve been to the states, and now back home in Aus. it’s been difficult trying to find the best way how to get our kitchen available for the US market. We are constantly getting people asking to buy them, from all over America.. I thought we may be able to get them made in the states, but after going over there, it’s just not going to work. I thought my mate Bob may be able to make them, but his shed just isn’t big enough, or set up well enough. I’ve been talking to all sorts of companies over there who want to make them for us, but at the end of the day, I really would have no control over what would be happening, how they would turn out. The other problem, was many of the materials, like the legs, pump, skids, straps , just aren’t available in the states.

So, we are now building kitchens here in my factory in Australia, and within a few weeks, we’ll be sending a pallet load over to Wenatchee WA. Our first pallet will be 4 x DPOS and 6 x DCB’s … Once these get to Wenatchee, a mate Chris will onforward them using UPS. Again, more info will be put up once we get this first shipment over there, and we find out how much the shipping charges will work out to. If you’d like to order a kitchen or hardware kit, send me an e-mail, and we’ll let you know once they are ready to go… thanks , rgds Luke
Kiyomi with a DPOS we just finished. Nearly done a DCB. We really struggled trying to build these without the right tools..
Kiyomi with the first DCB. Camping in Canada, BC, bit nervous about the bears. Can handle camping with crocs, brown snakes, and redbacks, but don’t like camping with bears.
