Here we have the ultimate set-up…whether you’re planning a long term trip or just enjoy a quick weekend get away – this is a great set up for a Troopy! The kitchen slides out on heavy duty stainless steel runners, so sets up in seconds and is so easy that even the kids could do it! Nice big storage drawer. Drifta’s unique slide out table that can be used as a bench out the back of your truck, or sets up free standing with the legs attached to the bottom. Then a solid full length top above the lot so you can easily chuck a mattress up there to sleep. When you’re not out exploring you can use the drawer for day to day gear plus chuck whatever you want on top…so your Troopy can still be your everyday driver.
Normally full length –this unit measures 2000L and fits snug between the wheel arch’s. The height needs to be around the 350mm – this allows good height so the kitchen is a good size.

Then on the RHS we have the kitchen – simply slides out on runners like this (no legs!!!)…..
….then opens up like this to give you a good station to cook up a feed! This design of kitchen has the one leg supporting the fold out bench – gives an extended worktop area which is handy.
The exact layout of the kitchen can be customized….but this one had a recessed stove space (we also now stock some awesome METHO stoves which are a good alternative to gas).
On the other end we normally put a cupboard door into some good storage space.
A couple of drawers for cutlery, cups, etc..
And there’s a nice hidden space below the lower drawer which is easy to access – just trying to make use of all the space so there’s no waste.
The slide out table is OPTIONAL, but really it’s a MUST! Can be used half slid out as a work bench, like this.
And here it is set-up free standing – such an awesome bit of gear the table…everyone loves this feature from Drifta!
Due to the length of the unit we normally build in a couple of lift off hatches to make full use of all the storage whilst keeping the solid front to back.
And we can also include a water tank – these 55L poly tanks are very good value (stainless tanks also available).
We can also take care of any 12V work needed – we have a full time autolec on the books here at Drifta – so we’re the one stop shop!
You also have full use of the space around the wheel arch’s with the lift off side wings for easy access.
We mostly now make these kitchens with a dropped bench like seen here as it makes the side bench a more workable height for most people.
You can see how the hinge is dropped about 60mm – then when the hinged bench is opened it will sit at an easier height to use.

STOVE INFORMATION / OPTIONS
The Drifta slide out kitchen can be made to suit most stoves – we customize the space as needed. The stoves we recommend these days are ones that don’t required a big bulky gas bottle – here’s some info to help you…

If you are installing a compatible 12v system – using a 240V induction hob is a good option. No gas and no flame means you can use this stove even during a total fire ban. You do need a high powered battery system and inverter to power induction when you are off grid – we can advise what you need (can also install 12v power system for you).
The bigger your stove the more space it requires, which means less storage space for other items within the kitchen unit. So a compact stove (like both the above options) is recommended.
