There is a canvas cover that goes over the top. This protects it from spray whilst travelling. It neatly folds over the back when in use. This sits neatly on the port side of our 5.6 quintrex half cab. Boat really needs to be 5.2 + to have room for this kitchen. for water, see the jerry can next to the kitchen, with just a simple hand pump, this works fine. the square jerries won’t fall over.

The top drawers contain a single burner stove, billies, cups plates, cutlery etc. they have bungee clips, and also bungee cord to make a neat handle. Instead of laminate, I’ve put a vinil covering on the top. This makes it non slip, but still a wipeable finish.

The bottom drawers are used as a pantry. 6 drawers on runners, this is a great setup. This kitchen/pantry setup works better than on a $100K cruiser boat. They have such a pokey little galley/storage area, you can hardly make a cuppa tea.

The unit measures about 900 long, 450 deep and 850 high. It weighs about 45 kgs combined. I can lift in in and out of the boat on my own, in the two pieces separately. We put a 50 ltr waeco ‘dual zone’ fridge on the opposite side to the kitchen. the dual zone has a small freezer separate, so you can keep bait etc frozen.

Plenty of room for all your food, we use one small draw for small items like toothbrush, sunscreen etc. look at all the benchspace you get on top.. in a small boat this is a luxury setup.

We’ve been overnight camping at a place called fame cove in nelson bay. It’s where all the big crusiers and yachts pull up. We’re always the smallest boat there, but we got the best kitchen!!..

This is broughton island, off port stephens. The boat kitchen can actually freestand like this one. It has the legs tucked up underneath. So you can carry it to shore and set up if you like..

This is my new boat kitchen. it’s actually a modified DCB – Drifta Car Back on top. See where the black line is in the middle between the drawers, this can lift off here, and be set up freestanding. (see last photo) The whole thing isn’t bolted down, on the carpet floor it doesn’t move. You could though if you wanted to – see the extra bench space on the end, this flips over and is supported underneath.

DRIFTA BOAT KITCHEN $1500

This is our new drifta boat kitchen. It is made from waterproof plastic, and marine grade stainless fittings. As you can see, it has a hand pump, which under can fit a jerry can of water. A 4 kg gas bottle sits next to it, which would ideally run a junior lido marine stove, which fits on top.

This modular kitchen would also be suitable to put into vans, horsefloats etc. for vans we could make it from ply, or whiteboard type material for a different finish. Rgds Luke
