| This is a hiace we fitted out for Nathan from w’gong. It has a modified DPOS kitchen pulled out from the drivers side, with a tucker box also. |
One long drawer was down the passenger side, it was about 1500 mm long. These were quiet deep also, about 400 mm high. |
| We made the drawers the same height as the seat when folded down, so the mattress can go over the top of the seats. |
When not used, the seat can fold back up again.. our part of this fitout was around $2300, this included the kitchen which is about $800 |
| This is the new hiace.. beautiful van, has the same 3.0 turbo diesel as the hilux. We put a full set of drawers in this, two out the rear, and two out the side. It was about $2600 fitted. |
Here you can see the sidewings, also the turnbucklets we use to hold it down. The hiace has tie-down points all in exactly the right spot, just outside the wheel arches, so it’s very easy to fit. |
| Because our drawers don’t have the metal runners, there is a lot more space inside. Metal runners take up a lot of the drawer width. |
These drawers are all custom made to suit the exact measurements available, so there is no wasted space. |
| Another shot of our sidewings brackets, and the tie down points... |
The new Toyota Hiace.. wish I had one :) |
| This van is the new VW transporter. It had some rear seats that fold forward, so we made up a bed extension that folds away. |
This is it folded down, so the seats can fit back in place. |
| We put in some lift out hatches in the front. This makes it so you can access some gear while still inside the van. |
The drawers were a D2DEWT – drifta two drawer extended with table.. they were 450 high though, this is so it’s at about sitting height, and gives a huge storage space inside the drawers. |
| See where the table sits, above the LHS drawer. It’s always there ready to use, and you don’t have to move anything to get to it.. |
Our custom tables are really popular built in to the drawer units.. this one is 1200 long, and about 550 wide. This whole fitout, with lined sidepanels, was about $2800. |

| This is a DPOS kitchen, coming out from a carcass box, on a van from tassy. |
Inside we made some custom cupboards/ corner cupboards/ drawers. |
| These are a DPOR pull out kitchen, and a storage drawer next to it.. we also build a bedbase frame, and lined the walls. See how they have also used the new oztent ‘foxwing’ awning, which is really ideally suited to get some cover over the rear of the van... |

many people with vans, need a window cut in to the side door. You really can’t sleep in a van in hot weather , without windows open. But without fly screen, the mozzies will get in. I was put onto this company in Sydney by a customer of ours, and they are very good.
They install windows and also forward facing seat etc, so if you are looking at fitting out a van, and need a window or seats installed, talk to Dave if you like. His website is on the left, so have a look at that..ta luke |

We've been starting to do basic van fitouts recently. As you can see it's the same Drifta style, of lacquered ply, and laminated tops.. this simple fitout (no hot water etc ) we did for under $AUD 5000.
Norbett, who we built it for, is an experienced traveler. Between us we designed him a simple, but very cost effective and practical camper setup. Give me a call if you'd like more info about fitting out vans... rgds luke |

| Here is a Toyota hiace van we did a basic fitout on recently. We are
starting to do a lot of these. It makes for a very functional budget fitout.
This one was around $AUD 2500 fitted. It has a DPOR kitchen, a large storage
box, a carpet lined carcus around it all, and side wings fitted. If you have

| this is a fitout we did for Matt from gosford in his mercedes van. We have put in a carcass for sleeping on, a storage box on the left, and a drifta van back kitchen and small tucker box n the right. Up front, the van has seats that fold fwd, so we have to panels that fit in place to form the extended bed area. These will lift out to set the seats back up, so it can become a 5 seater again. With the seats down, the coloured panel is also a table, so it can be set up inside , or taken outside also....we have also lined some of the wall panels and roof, as per what matt wanted... this all came in at just under $AUD 3000. This makes a very cost effective but very practical setup. Rgds Luke |

| this is a fitout we did for richard from kempsey. It's in a Toyota van. He wanted somewhere for his two fridges up the front, but also a panel that can fit in place when the fridges are removed. There are two long drawers out
the back, and one out the side. It has a false top that is scribed in to the side walls. There are three separate carcasses, and they can all be removed easily in 5 minutes. These long drawers , running just on plastic skids, slide beautifully, and are very strong. This was all fitted for under $AUD 2000. Rgds Luke |

| This is a simple van fitout we did recently. There is two drawers coming out the rear, with sidepanels, and lift out center bed section. At the front is our standard pull out trailer kitchen, the DPO. It can pull out and be set up out the side door , under the awning. |

| Here is a custom van fitout we did for Mark from Forster. We designed it to his requirements. A lot of people come here with an idea what they want, then I sit down with them and work out a design I can make that will be practical. |
This kitchen unit has a drop down shelf on the side. The stove sits on top, but can lift down onto the drop down shelf, for cooking outside. Behind the kitchen unit is a esky, with water storage underneath. The lift out table, fits in a special place behind the kitchen. |
| See how the stove can be used inside if needed. |
We relined the walls and ceiling, and also added insulation. There is a power setup installed under the left bench. |
| Mark had some mattresses made up, that can function like a lounge, or put in place for the bed. |
There is a fill in piece to fit in the center, to make the bedbase. This lives under the cushion on the right. There is a large drawer that can be pulled out, also hatches under the mattress on both sides, to access gear when the doors are closed.. |
| This cabinet proved tricky, but the design we came up with was great. See how there is a leg on the outside of the front, this can drop down and lock into the floor. |
See how the hinge for the front is set back half way along the base. This is so when it’s dropped down, it will be lower, which made for a comfortable table height when sitting on the lounge. There is an adjustable reading light also . |
| DRIFTA BOAT KITCHEN/PANTRY DBK-P $AUD 1290 |
| Also will work for vans, as a modular kitchen |
| This is my new boat kitchen. it's actually a modified DCB - Drifta Car Back on top. See where the black line is in the middle between the drawers, this can lift off here, and be set up freestanding. (see last photo) The whole thing isn't bolted down, on the carpet floor it doesn't move. You could though if you wanted to - see the extra bench space on the end, this flips over and is supported underneath. |
There is a canvas cover that goes over the top. This protects it from spray whilst travelling. It neatly folds over the back when in use. This sits neatly on the port side of our 5.6 quintrex half cab. Boat really needs to be 5.2 + to have room for this kitchen. for water, see the jerry can next to the kitchen, with just a simple hand pump, this works fine. the square jerries won't fall over. |
| The top drawers contain a single burner stove, billies, cups plates, cutlery etc. they have bungee clips, and also bungee cord to make a neat handle. Instead of laminate, I've put a vinil covering on the top. This makes it non slip, but still a wipeable finish. |
The bottom drawers are used as a pantry. 6 drawers on runners, this is a great setup. This kitchen/pantry setup works better than on a $AUD 100K cruiser boat. They have such a pokey little galley/storage area, you can hardly make a cuppa tea. |
| The unit measures about 900 long, 450 deep and 850 high. It weighs about 45 kgs combined. I can lift in in and out of the boat on my own, in the two pieces separately. We put a 50 ltr waeco 'dual zone' fridge on the opposite side to the kitchen. the dual zone has a small freezer separate, so you can keep bait etc frozen. |
Plenty of room for all your food, we use one small draw for small items like toothbrush, sunscreen etc. look at all the benchspace you get on top.. in a small boat this is a luxury setup. |
| We've been overnight camping at a place called fame cove in nelson bay. It's where all the big crusiers and yachts pull up. We're always the smallest boat there, but we got the best kitchen!!.. |
This is broughton island, off port stephens. The boat kitchen can actually freestand like this one. It has the legs tucked up underneath. So you can carry it to shore and set up if you like.. |
| DRIFTA BOAT KITCHEN |
$AUD 1500 |
This is our new drifta boat kitchen. It is made from waterproof plastic, and marine grade stainless fittings. As you can see, it has a hand pump, which under can fit a jerry can of water. A 4 kg gas bottle sits next to it, which would ideally run a junior lido marine stove, which fits on top.
This modular kitchen would also be suitable to put into vans, horsefloats etc. for vans we could make it from ply, or whiteboard type material for a different finish. Rgds Luke
